Day 2: Drive to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park, renowned for its incredible biodiversity and primate population. The journey will take about 5-6 hours, crossing picturesque landscapes and charming rural towns. En route, you may stop for a traditional Ugandan lunch. Arriving in the late afternoon, check into your lodge nestled near the park, where you can unwind and relax amidst the serene surroundings. Kibale is famous for its large population of chimpanzees, and tomorrow’s trek promises to be an exciting highlight. Enjoy dinner at your lodge and rest up for the thrilling experiences to come.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Wetland Walk
Start your day with an early breakfast before heading into Kibale Forest for chimpanzee tracking. This guided trek offers an exhilarating chance to encounter our closest relatives in their natural habitat. The trek can last several hours, depending on the chimps’ location, but the reward of seeing these playful and intelligent creatures up close is well worth it. After lunch, embark on a walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area with a rich array of bird species and other wildlife. The day concludes with a return to your lodge for a relaxing evening and another delicious dinner.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Following breakfast, set out on a journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a drive that will take approximately 3-4 hours. As you approach the park, marvel at the changing landscapes from lush forest to savannah and wetlands. After checking into your lodge, enjoy a hearty lunch and prepare for an afternoon game drive. Queen Elizabeth National Park is known for its diverse wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, and lions, as well as an impressive array of bird species. The evening offers a splendid opportunity to appreciate the park’s beauty during a sunset game drive before heading back to your lodge for dinner and relaxation.
Day 5: Explore Queen Elizabeth National Park – Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise
Begin the day with an early morning game drive to spot wildlife as they become active with the rising sun. The park’s varied ecosystems support a wide range of animals, including leopards and hippos. Return to your lodge for a satisfying breakfast and then head out for an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. The journey will take about 4-5 hours, with scenic views of terraced hills and rural landscapes along the way. Upon arrival, check into your lodge situated on the edge of the forest, offering spectacular views and a comfortable retreat. In the afternoon, relax and prepare for the gorilla trekking adventure scheduled for the next day. Enjoy a sumptuous dinner at your lodge and rest well, anticipating the unique experience that awaits.
Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Today is the highlight of your safari: gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. After an early breakfast, your guide will lead you through the misty forest to track the mountain gorillas. The trek can be challenging due to the dense vegetation, but the reward of encountering these majestic creatures in their natural habitat is incomparable. Spend a magical hour observing the gorillas, their social interactions, and their serene presence. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relax as you reflect on the incredible experience. In the afternoon, you’ll drive back to Entebbe for your departure, with a transfer from your lodge. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time for last-minute shopping or sightseeing in Entebbe before heading to the airport.
